Advisory Board

Frank Blair

Frank Blair is the Founder of IEG Venture Management, an entrepreneurial venture capital firm located in Chicago that specializes in Midwestern technology-based startups.

While managing IEG, Frank served as the President, Chairman, and CEO, of Pride-Tech. Previously, he worked for the Environmental Protection Agency as the Chief of Staff for the Deputy administration. He also served as the Assistant to James Schlesinger, secretary of the department. Thereafter, Frank played two crucial roles in the Heizer Corporation: Treasurer and Vice President of Business Development for energy, environmental and aerospace/ defense deals.

Frank received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and economics from Yale University and a Master of Public Administration in decision analysis from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.

Stanley B. Blaylock

Stanley B. Blaylock brings two decades of healthcare and financial experience to his position of President and CEO at Physicians Immediate Care, where he manages all operations of the company and leads the firm’s growth strategy.

Before joining Physicians Immediate Care, Stanley was President of Walgreens Health Services, the Managed Care and Specialty Services Division of one of the nation’s largest drugstore chains. Prior to that, he was Co-Founder, President, and CEO of Medmark, a major national provider of specialty pharmacy services, which he sold to Walgreens in 2006. Stanley has also held executive positions for Option Care, Inc., Citibank’s Corporate Banking Division, and as Deutsche Bank’s Global Co-Head.

Stanley serves on the boards of Physicians Immediate Care, NovaSom, Inc., AxelaCare Holdings, Inc., and SoloHealth, Inc. He received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in economics and communication studies from the University of Virginia.

Joel B. Braunstein, MD

Joel B. Braunstein is a board-certified cardiologist and internist, and Co-Founder of LifeTech Research, a firm established to provide technical and market due-diligence research services to institutional investors and emerging companies.

Joel has played a key operational role in the startup of numerous life science companies. Well-versed in the healthcare industry, he is currently a member of five corporate boards.

Joel received his Doctor of Medicine with highest distinction from Northwestern University Medical School. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from, as well as maintained a cardiology faculty position at, John Hopkins University. In addition to his various management responsibilities, Joel currently maintains an adjunct professorship at the Yale School of Medicine and the Yale Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluations (CORE).

Brad Buxton

Brad Buxton is the President and Founder of BTB Associates LLC, a healthcare strategy and management consulting company. In this role, he works with both hospital systems and health plans, developing strategies and operational procedures to better manage risk while improving efficiencies and quality.

Brad has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare and health plan management sectors, including health plan operations, marketing, sales, government programs, external relations, and mergers and acquisitions. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President for the Health Care Service Corporation and Senior Vice President for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky).

Brad earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University and a Master of Public Health / Hospital Administration from Yale.

Martin Z. Craig

Martin Z. Craig leverages over three decades of healthcare and financial experience in his position as CEO of HBG Health Ventures, an equity advisory firm that equips early-stage and mature healthcare companies with capital and grounded business guidance.

Martin was the Founder and Executive Vice President of HHL Financial Services, a national healthcare firm providing revenue cycle management services, which was sold to the Hillman family at a time when it was the largest company in its industry. He was also CEO of Argent Healthcare, a GTCR portfolio company, elevating the platform to a national-level through the acquisition, merger, and integration of several RCM companies, before selling it to Roundtable Healthcare Partners. Throughout his career, Martin built and advised successful healthcare companies by relying on highly skilled staff members, developing the best practices, and providing outstanding execution for his clients.

He received a Bachelor of Arts from University of Illinois and a Juris Doctor degree from the John Marshall Law School.

Angus Duthie

A healthcare entrepreneur, Angus Duthie has spent the last 25 years as a General Partner at Prince Ventures, a venture capital firm he co-founded, which specialized in early-stage healthcare and life science firms and has funded over 60 companies.

He focuses on the healthcare services industry, including rehabilitation hospitals, occupational medicine, disease management, women’s health, hospice, managed care, alternative site psychiatric care, and healthcare information technology. Angus frequently serves on the board of directors of his portfolio companies and assists with assembling management teams to ensure growth. A member of CorSolutions’ Board of Directors since 1994, he became Chairman of the Board in early 2002 and was soon after named CEO before effectively leading the company through a sale.

Greg Guckes

Greg Guckes has more than 25 years of management experience leading healthcare and business service companies. He’s held various executive positions as Chairman, President & COO, and EVP & COO of both public and private organizations, with revenues ranging from $100 million to $1 billion. Currently, he is a Managing Partner at Patriarch Partners, directing the Healthcare, Staffing, and Business Services Division.

Greg began his career with Baxter International, followed by Owens & Minor, American Medical Response, Medical Staffing Network, Omniflight, and finally, Patriarch Partners. With an extensive background in M&A integration and turnaround management, he’s guided teams through periods of dynamic industry change, rationalizing operations and capital structures.

Greg graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts in economics.

Steven C. Straus

Steven C. Straus has over three decades of comprehensive experience, having held several leadership roles in both supplier and provider sectors, ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies. He recently partnered with Pharos Capital Group, LLC to serve as the CEO of Dermatology and MedSpa, Inc.

Previously, Steven served as CEO of American Laser Skincare, a provider of aesthetic services. In 2012, he was President of Strategic Development at Daniels International, a privately-held Australian-based company. In this capacity, he oversaw the development and implementation of the company’s regulated medical waste services and product strategy for US healthcare providers in acute and alternate care markets. Prior, he was CEO of LCA Vision/ Lasik Plus, a publicly-traded provider of laser vision correction surgical services. Steven has assumed numerous leadership roles in healthcare-related businesses throughout his professional career, including MSO Medical, TLC Vision, Jordan Industries, and Columbia/ HCA/ Medical Care America–his first position at American Hospital Supply Corporation and Baxter Healthcare.

Stefan Weiss, MD

Stefan Weiss is a board-certified dermatologist and the Founder of Tegalux Biosciences, a biopharmaceutical incubator, focused on accelerating early- to mid-stage biopharmaceutical compounds that address unmet needs in the industry.

Through Stiefel/ Glaxo-SmithKine’s acquisition, Stefan became Senior Medical Director at Connetics Corporation. During his tenure, he successfully advanced three drug candidates through FDA approval.

Stefan received a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Yale University, an MD and MHSc from the Duke University School of Medicine, and his Master of Business Administration from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management. He completed his residency in dermatology at the Stanford University Medical Center and his fellowship in bioethics at the National Institute of Health. In addition to his management responsibilities, Stefan maintains an adjunct faculty position at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/ Jackson Health System in the Department of Dermatology. He is also a member of the Academy for Creativity & Leadership’s (ACL) Executive Advisory Board (EAB) in the Department of Health Management & Informatics at the University of Central Florida.
